Bare Minerals Ready

Hi everyone!

Long time no see, but I really just wanted to take a break for a while. Honestly, I was kind of just in a blogging funk. I couldn't really think of anything to talk about for a while, so I just didn't. I promise I'll try to post more in the upcoming weeks!

So after Christmas I splurged on makeup, but since then I haven't really been shopping for products to follow my New Year's Resolution of spending less on makeup and beauty products (shock, horror. We'll see how long it lasts). One of the products I bought before this spending ban was the Bare Minerals Ready Foundation. As you guys know, I'm a HUGE fan of the regular loose foundation from Bare Minerals, but I always hated that it was so tricky to travel with. I had been wanting to try this ever since I found out that Bare Minerals was making pressed powders, and I'm so glad I got to try this! I think I like this new pressed version even better than the loose.

First thing I like about this product doesn't have anything to do with the fact that this is pressed, but more about the shade. I could never find a match in the original foundation - they'd always be a touch too pink. However, since the last time I had to buy Bare Minerals they've also expanded their shade range. I used to use the shades in the Medium range, but I found that the shade Light actually was a much better pick for me. This is a yellow powder, so it really helps cancel out all the redness in my face. I find that this shade blends into my skin better than any of the other shades I had been using.

So now onto the new formula. I obviously like how this is in pressed form, because I can take it with me in my purse, or in my travel makeup bag without worrying about a powder explosion.  I find that I can build up to full coverage with this foundation much easier than with the loose foundation. I don't need as much powder to get the look I want, and it's fuller coverage than I used to get with the loose foundation. With the loose foundation, I could use it as a light setting powder as well, but I'm not sure if I would do that with the pressed foundation. The pressed formula is a lot creamier than the loose, and it's really easy to pick up the product on a brush. I think I'll stick to using this strictly as a powder foundation, just because it's so creamy and buildable.

As for lasting power, I find this lasts longer than the loose foundation, but I still think that a primer or moisturizer underneath is still necessary. I've been loving using the Origins Vitazing with the new pressed formula, but I also really like using Smashbox Photofinish Primer or Benefit the Porefessional. I think this is a great foundation, but it does need some thing to stick to if you want coverage all day.

I also really appreciate how much powder you get with the new Pressed formula. With the old loose formula, it came with .28 oz for $27, whereas with the pressed formula you get a whopping .49 oz for $29. So for $2 more, you get almost double the product. It's a no brainer, guys. :D

Have you tried the Bare Minerals Ready Foundation yet?

XO,
Kelly
